“Write and sell frightening fiction” is what is the heading is for the back book cover and I believe it! The consortium of authors and topics featured in this book give you the tools! My copy is highlighted and has notes in the margins! The book has 8 parts, including the acceptance speech of Stephen King for the 2003 National Book Award for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters.
Wow! His speech blew me away (there are people out there that thought he was a hack???). I never considered that there was a tangible, high-brow division line between authors of literature and authors of popular fiction. And Stephen King mentioned my new find (author), Michael Connelly–yes, I know he has been around awhile–but, I just found him!
My 23-year-old daughter took my copy of his new release, 9 Dragons, after I was a third of the way into the story…and I freaked (she’ll bring it back). I’m going to start at the beginning of the series of his character Harry Bosch and then finish 9 Dragons. My daughter knows me and said I will be happier if I do. Makes me wonder what happened in 9 Dragons??? *wringing hands*
Sorry, I’m writing this really fast–Back to “on writing horror”, the book has another chapter by Jay R. Bonansinga, Titled: Keep it Moving, Maniacs: Writing Action Scenes in Horror fiction–fantastic. There is so much great information and” how to” and insight and history in this book–I give it 4.75 stars out of Five Stars and I don’t give 5 stars. Seriously, get your hands on the book.
