(It’s go to sleep time for me -lol) I wanted to share the resource books I’ve added to my writing library. *Yawn*

Sorry, I’m a day sleeper. The book is written for writers who are going to need to know about forensics, crime scenes or about the coroner aspect.

The author brings out that the public views television programs about crime scene investigation and believes those television shows are depicting real-life crime scene investigation. So to the average reader sees the science on those shows as reality–so this book explains the science used on many of those television shows for the writer who wants to come across to the reader as credible.

He also brings out that real-life crime scene investigation labs and tools are not even close to the technology seen on television; and that most labs are in sore need of the basic elements of a television crime lab. But the readers will expect to read about the forensic science what they see on television.

The book: Forensics: a guide for writers by D.P. Lyle, MD

Published by Writer’s Digest Books, an imprint of F+W Publications

ISBN:978-1-58297-474-3

This book is a definite must for anyone writing a story that includes crime scenes and their investigations. I bought mine at Borders Books. Check your book store or library.

Have a good day everyone!

Writing in first person keeps your reader along side your speaker (you or your character) as the action happens–this builds suspense and surprise. Detective, and crime novels are often written in first person for this reason.

If you or your character’s name was Jane –and you wrote: John was thinking of buying flowers–you are not writing in first person. If you write: Jane(or I) saw John cup his chin and smile at the roses display at the florist shop. This is first person.

Theme is the concept of your story and should be able to be summed up in a few words, or a sentence:

Who done it?

Love conquers all obstacles (time, distance, species, social strata, death)

Sacrifice loyalty/ love of family or culture for true love that is not approved of by family or culture.

Plot is the map, diagram, events, plan of action that the author of the theme “uses” to direct the theme to its conclusion.

Some writers find researching to the most enjoyable part of the writing process. I have a very simple recipe box and three-inch by five-inch cards and “ABC” dividers. I put the name, author(S) date of publication, publisher, addresses: physical and website and any reference I made to the sources work. I also put where or on what project the research was–or will be used for. There are various ways a writer researches his or her work. Only part of the research may be from written publications. A writer may visit a geographical location or conduct an interview. Verify that your source is a reliable and credible.

If anyone would like to share how they research, please do. Research has many methods and topics. I hope we have many participants.

This is the first story in Gwyn Lacy’s Series: The Prophecy. It was reviewed by Coffee Time romance as 3 out of five coffee cups. Which is pretty terrific for an authors’ first time publication.

It is a playful romp in pre-medieval Germany. If you like Prophecies and Curses, good conquers evil, magic, princesses, kings, battle scenes, and the conquest of love–and a good belly laugh, give it a read. If you are into historical detail, instead of just a fairytale fantasy, this story may not appeal to you. For you that like a sexy fairytale, this is for you!

Choose the authors option for search and then “Lacy”. Thanks in advance, I am Gwyn Lacy and I appreciate your support.

You can order it directly from the publisher, DCL Publications or on Fictionwise or on all romance ebooks.
